Let it Snow!

It's here. Winter in Truckee that is. Glad I got my run in yesterday afternoon, because this morning I woke up to the sound of my step-dad snow blowing the front driveway at 5:30am. So I got up, made some more of those yummy Pumpkin Waffles for my parents before they went to work and snapped my surroundings.

By the way, I was working for the housing development my parent's live-in...
I'm now understanding why construction "slows" down in the winter.

Happy Friday!

National Novel Writing Month

Today is the first day in about 4 months that I have the house all to myself, as unemployment freedom begins today. It couldn't have been timed more perfectly either, so I can begin my book for NaNoWriMo, which started on Nov 1st. (For all you writers, who have ever wanted to write a book... join us!)

So as I sit listening to Pandora, taking myself into that whole deep mysterious writer mode wearing pj's (still at 2:00pm) and my cold winter boots (we are expecting snow tonight) and try not to contemplate the next steps in life, but rather concentrate on writing a kick-ass non-fiction book. All I can say about my project is, it is the yin to my yang. Complete opposite of the blog. Things I have wrote about in the past, stopped for years because of being in a relationship, and now feel liberated to write about whatever I want again, with no feelings to take into consideration. I promise you will want to read it.

I'm hoping to attend this year's 2011 Night of Writing Dangerously Write-a-thon in San Francisco. Something I've wanted to do for the past 2 years and considered flying all the way from Fort Lauderdale to participate. Now I only live 3 hours away, but need sponsors to attend. So... if you feel so inclined to donate a teeny amount, I would be so appreciative!! :)

Pinwheel Mornings...

Lots of new followers. And lots to share. I have been blogging on and off now for five years. And the past couple of years have been the most eventful years of my life. I have seen way too many ups and downs, the kinds people get to see over several decades. I lost my Mother to hemorrhage, lost my dad to cancer, had to leave my loved pet behind, got divorced, permanently injured my knees, and started life practically from scratch.

But the going has been good. I have found out who my real friends are. I have discovered my strengths. And I have found some really inspiring people on the blogosphere. I am learning to respect myself, so I can expect the same from others. I am learning to put myself first. Thanks to your inspiring presence in my life, I have started work on my own line of hair accessories too! There are some women on the blogosphere who I have been following for a while now and who use this medium for far more than posting pretty pictures of themselves. They have relentlessly pursued their passion, travelled extensively, achieved what other keep day-dreaming about, and managed to bring just that little ray of sunshine to the lives of others. Even though I have never met them, I have learned to read between the lines and see the true grit that lies at the core of a woman. My this post is to honor a small handful of them. There are many more, and it's not possible to mention them all here, but in some small way, you all have helped me through a very difficult time in my life.

So, I'd like to give my very own "Inspiración Award" to the following beautiful women.

Rachel of CapturingItaly

Anna of IHOD

Anya of Couture Millinery Atelier

HauteWorld

Mimi Bleu of Bonjour Romance

I also want to share a few random things about myself.
I love pinwheels.
I love quiet, happy breakfasts.
I love flowers, candles, and beautiful things.

Leaving you with a few pictures clicked around my house on a lazy Sunday morning.

And yes, there is an Awesome Giveaway coming up soon. Watch this space!

Oregon Coast Getaway

Mmm... the long weekend. Amore and adventure describes it all. I knew it would be a Top Memory for the year and I was right. The Oregon Coast was misty, mystic and practically magical. But it was a first in many ways for me, and so meaningful. I was glad to spend my Dad's birthday with him for the first time in way too many years. A wonderful night of family, manicotti, puzzles and wine in a beautiful ocean view living room filled with happiness and new beginnings... finally my multiple lives blending all in one... a sense of slight nervousness, the promise of a beautiful unknown future and sense of peace I can't begin to describe. Plus morning beach walks, fresh seaside clam chowder, and fish & chips from The Crazy Norwegian.

Not to mention out-of-this-world homemade German Chocolate Cake.

Halloween Cake Pops

Holiday Baking

Remember how I mentioned the late night baking? My friend and I made Halloween Cake Pops!
We followed the directions from Family Circle. But the flavors were Devil's food cake with mint chocolate, cinnamon swirl cake with caramel frosting and white chocolate, and lastly pumpkin cake!
Rich, but loads of fun!

We had a 4.7 earthquake here last night.
Now I'm off for a road trip to Oregon!

Happy Halloween!

&

Happy Birthday Dad & Evan!
