SAC- IT- OFF

ooooh cosy times  are required for the the full effect of these cuddly sack dresses by Emily Ryan. They remind me of the dressing-gown towels babies have- (towels with hoods) which have just endless possibilities for the imaginations of babies and their sleepy heads... or the ideal thing to wear while lounging around the outdoor jacuzzi of your Canadian chalet while gazing over the crispy starry skies of Quebec... if you do that kind of thing? You probably should, its good for your circulation kids.

AWWW BLESS!

Berlin-based specialists in the essential inessential items have created chainmail window-wipers for the eyes! cyanatrendland.com have thankfully documented this important advance in eyewear from their last collection.
What do people need to look at anyway when they are indulging in serious introspection- I think its commonplace these days (the world is just wrapping paper to the gift of life- this is an actual TOUR DE FORCE original quote right here!).
I hope they are rust proof- or beyonce isnt going to be so fresh after sporting them as le parfait accompanyment to her new futuristic look... (she is you know)
But seriously who cares, they look amazing. Is that... Item Idem sporting a pair???

Heres some other exciting pieces- D.I.Y disaster-inspired cable necklace and mouldable napkin/purse which i think is beautifully romantic and versatile... you could put anything in there- an egg.... some dust!

LANGUAGE IS A VIRUS...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Yes it is, I agree with Laurie Anderson- poetical performer of music art from days gone by and also, more recently of 2008 comeback tour. I say comeback, but actually i dont think she went anywhere I just had no idea who she was till I stumbled across THIS;

Some people see her as a visionary because in the 80's she used to use her art/music to communicate her theories about the future and how it would be effected by advances in digital technology. As a result she became the only artist to be offered a residency a NASA. She also invented some kind of magnetic tape violin. Her song 'from the air' is worth checking out- though it keeps being mysteriously deleted from youtube due to the fact many believe she predicted with this song the 9/11 attacks... "this is your captain speaking... we are going down...".

Gitanjali Luxury Style Fest 09 - Day One

Last night, Gitanjali Group Chairman, Mehul Choksi and Massimo Carraro joined Priety Zinta and Neil Nitin Mukesh in hitting the gong to announce the launch of the Gitanjali Luxury Style Fest 09. Other faces spotted were Rituparna Sengupta, Narendra Kumar with Kadambari Lakhani, Nisha Jamwal, Bobby Kishan, Nikasha Tawadey, Rahul Sharma, Gayatri Khanna, Shatrujit Tikka singh, Parvez Damania, Krutika Desai, Vikram Raizada and Shaina NC. GLSF 09 is a three-day fest and Day 1 saw Rohit Bal, Ritu Beri and Wendell Rodriguez showcase their collections on the ramp.

Rohit Bal is known for incorporating an edgy attitude in his every collection. All his collections have a strong Couture element that many have tried to emulate, and failed. The highlight of his collection, as usual, was the use of fabric and textures to create sheer drama. See for yourself.

HORT + AZITA = EDUCATED FAN BASE

Super creative and well respected Berlin graphic and multimedia design company The Hort (after school club) is the most idealistic commune of employees- protected and free like a bird sanctuary with a lot of hanging nuts- anyway they have made some exciting t-shirts of colorful structures for online shop AZITA  and called it Educated Fan Base. Azita stock some unusual things by german brands- such as... SOCKSHOE's by Bless (wow yes- the future)Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Thomas Vicary was the instigator of the regal trend that rolled over london like a PRIDAL-wave- okay so he might have controversially used Nazi flags for his collection-but its all the same colours.
Since graduating from the MA at CSM in 2008 he has been working on his next collection which will be shown this February. I think its a sure thing to say we can expect more of the hip-slice cutting and raw delicate couture details which will induce some serious hunger for his timeless creations.
seriously- WATCH THIS SPACE!

Asgar/Gabriel

Since 2005, the young Vienna-based artists Daryoush Asgar and Elisabeth Gabriel of Asgar/Gabriel, have been collaborating on a radically contemporary form of figurative painting. Drawing upon historical movements such as baroque, pop art, and abstract expressionism, while referencing contemporary developments in graffiti and photo-realism, the duo create intricately layered canvases in which linear narrative falls prey to the chaos of our image saturated times. HELLO OBAMA...

so... if I was going to be at the inauguration I would probably want to drag big flag (American/ North Korean for political comedy value) in an oversized waistcoat-dress as per below piece by LA based label Grey Ant. Someone just told me they are delaying the whole thing because they havn't fount the hypo-allergenic hairless dog yet that doesnt look like a rat and the nation is going to disappointed.

BREAK MY FINGER

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Theres something nostalgic about thin painted wood broaches to me.. I think maybe in the 80's there was  an abundant bunch of house mothers creating them as i distincly seeing them on many a table at the boot sales i used to be dragged around as tiny child- anyways I dont rememebr seeing any as exciting as sold on the etsy shop- Broken Fingers though.

meddling with vintage works out sometimes

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Generally I am not a fan of the cut and paste being applied the dwindling stocks of vintage gems all the swedes are buying up and selling on- but DRESSED UP CAT seem to be doing a nice job. I love the repetition going on with these bags- its kind of strangely comforting-junk is comforting i suppose (maybe its that lack of order can enhance the feeling of freedom).
Im going to go and play in the trash.

DUNGAREEABLE..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I really think that everyone loves dungarees.. men like them on women, women like them on women. I dont like them on men-bad associations... 'Brokeback Mountain' made me even more scared that one can be completely unable to tell that they are not being loved in the best way- just in some other depressing way.
More to the point -I have been banging on for weeks about the necessity of dungarees with rolled up legs and clinched waist avec matching denim belt... i think i am going to have to make some for yself- but i think Paul & Jo decided to serve me up some satisfaction with these creations which i will enjoy thinking about the possibility of wearing.

P.s- the outfit on the end is MY IDEA OF A VISUAL HUG. I am going to drink some nettle tea and hope for the best

OLDE BOOK DISOVERY.... WARHOL EXPOSURES

1980's Edition of 'Andy Warhol's Exposures'

Halston's Money Hat... I wonder if that will turn up at the V&A's Anthology of hats exhibition?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Bianca Jagger reminds you that a razor is a weapon... and Liza sporting the oh-so-right-now dressing gown chic!

Christmas was great-right?- perfect credit crunch block-out, when the present worries have passed, I think of it like going on a package holiday. You really dont need to leave the house- you can eat all the time and nothing runs out and its almost compulsory to be lazy. While passing one of these contemplative hours of leisure i started going through my mum's book collection, mainly consisting of spiritually enlightening bricks of paper and then I found this wondrous 80's edition of 'Andy Warhol's Exposures'. Now i still havnt gone to the exhibition.. but I have simply been trying to find a whole day to obsessively experience the entirety every single video in the exhibit.
More than what Warhol actually creates, I really love the way he writes, i find it just as addictive as Bret Ellis novels because both writers obsessively describe the surface of things right down to the very last detail. I love that it is almost objective to the point of slightly in autistic in that conclusions are left to the reader- you are very aware of the behaivoral habits that the writer preferences- but only because there is a pattern in the kind of actions or behaivors he factually decribes.
If anyone gets a chance to read this book I recommend! It offers great insight into the lifestyles of some of the worlds biggest ageing celebrities and how they were connected... I think I may need to share some vintage celebrity photoshoots fro the 90's Interview magazines my friend offloaded onto me...
