A Taste of Color

Autumn is coming soon. The leaves will begin to fall, flowers begin to disappear and clouds will cover the sky. So why not blog about Joseph Font? We will be craving some color either than gray soon enough.

Saturday Morning Breakfast

Apple Oven Cake

Doesn't this look divine for nice Saturday morning breakfast?
I think I'm gonna give it a whirl...
the recipe looks super easy.

Apple Oven Cake
Recipe by Peter Zensius for Sunset Magazine.
Yield: Serves 6
Ingredients

3 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1 sweet apple such as Fuji, peeled and sliced
3 large eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon powdered sugar

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 425°. Melt butter in a 12-in. ovenproof frying pan over high heat. Add brown sugar and cinnamon, swirling to combine. Add apple and cook until just starting to soften, about 3 minutes.

2. Meanwhile, in a blender, whirl together eggs, salt, flour, and milk. Pour egg mixture into pan and bake until puffed and brown, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with lemon juice and powdered sugar.

In the Kitchen

Popovers & Raviolis

This past weekend I was feeling inspired in the kitchen and had a great success with Sunny Anderson's, Savory Cheese Popovers. Those who know me, know I have difficulty following a recipe. So, I improvised a little. I used pepper jack cheese instead of her cheddar and dash of cayenne pepper. I thought they turned out just gorgeous. Confession... I didn't have a mini muffin or popover pan like her recipe called for, so I used a floral petit four pan I purchased while employed at Williams-Sonoma. I believe they turned out lovely for an afternoon tea with the ladies. This recipe was super easy too!

Recipe found HERE.

Grade: A
They were lite and airy, with the perfect amount of cheese and fresh dill!

Now. I also wanted to give these Pea Raviolis by Claire Robinson's, 5 Ingredient Fix a try. You would think that because they are only 5 ingredients it was be easy and quick. Well, the popovers scored higher in my book.

1. Peas
2. Prosciutto
3. Lemon infused Olive Oil
4. Wonton Wrappers
5. Ricotta

Recipe found HERE.

Grade: B-
While the crispy pancetta mixed with the flavor of the lemon infused olive oil was a major hit, I didn't care for the filling of peas and ricotta. Perhaps, spinach or mushrooms would be better.
(It was slightly time consuming, and a lot of dishes to clean.)

Stuffing and sealing the raviolis.

Before going into the boiling water.
Note: The recipe made a lot of filling, which I ended up freezing the ready made raviolis for next time.

The zest of 1 lemon + 2 tbsp of olive oil = Tres Magnifique!
Great for cooking oil or drizzling.

Bon appetit!!

Mission Accomplished

Thank you Mr. Cody Hall for making our photoshoot possible this last Wednesday.

BENJAMIN ULMER - VISUAL EXPRESSION

Just who is Mr Benjamin Ulmer?, with a portfolio extending to some of the worlds most famous and reputable fashion houses, Mr Benjamin Ulmer is undoubtedly a rare and unique creative identity.

Having worked for the great fashion house Ralph Lauren, and side by side as assistant to the former director of Bulgari, to establishing a unique concept store, combining all the 'loves' of the creative world, from fashion, interior design and home collections, Benjamin Ulmer has come a very long way to be standing where he is today, in his own 'big' creative world.

With a philosophy based on the element of 'discovery' - "I am always in search of something new and exciting, something as it has shown no other before", Mr Ulmer is righteously embracing the 'unfounded' elements that tweaks his creative talent.

These days, Mr Ulmer is the creative director of Luxury Fashion Consulting, a 'niche and cliche' service, answering to the needs of the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industries. From his base in Switzerland, Mr Ulmer has recognised the need to inject his vision into a market place under the category of 'luxury' ( elite, special, expensive... )

The impression I perceive, is that Mr Benjamin Ulmer oozes with style and taste, whether that taste be for expensive impression-ables, or merely a taste of appreciation for fashion and art. He is definately a gentleman whom is articulate through 'visual' expression and impression.

He describes his style as; "casual classic, with an edgy kick", I interpret this as, 'not conforming to the mainstream styles of fashion, but instead creating his own visual fashion aura'.

Mr Benjamin Ulmer is well educated in his knowledge about the Australian fashion industry, his love and appreciation for the creations from designer duos such as Sass & Bide, and single entity designers; Nicola Finetti & Lisa Ho, gives me the impression that he is not one bit in the least lacking in understanding about the Australian fashion culture.

Ladies and gentleman, this is a mere insight into the understanding of Mr Benjamin Ulmer xoxo, ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 'luxury' world of Mr Benjamin Ulmer; http://www.luxury-fashion-consulting.com/

Pictures Worth A Thousand Words

Just take a peek into Paco Peregrin's website. Words cannot describe just how talented he is. He does fashion, advertising, art, portraits (the list goes on and on). His photographs are so inventive. One picture contains enough information that words are not even needed.
What do you think?
