Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of attending Chima Brazilian Steakhouse on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale, FL. For anyone who has ever had the pleasure of attending a Brazilian-style steakhouse, you can attest they are quite an experience. A delicious buffet-style salad bar, which brings the term salad bar to a whole new meaning. I sampled gorgonzola mousse, calamari salad, carpacchio, oh yeah, and a little arugula salad with a chimichurri style house dressing. It is not necessary to mention how excessively brimming my plate was with food, but you get the point.
However, I did make it a point to have a carb-free platter. That was until they brought out the cheese rolls, to which I shamelessly threw out the New Year's Diet for the night and ate about 5-6 of them. Yeah, that's right... but they weren't that big... I swear!
Then the waiters serve all kinds of meat imaginable in a "radizio" fashion. They walk around with large skewers of meat and a carving knife. If they see the "Yes" placard next to your setting, they stop and ask if you wish for a serving of whatever they have. I tried sirloin, filet mignon, garlic steak, ribeye and lamb. After surveying the pamphlet, I discovered I didn't even try a fraction of other specialities, including chicken, sausages, pork, and fish. The seasoning was amazing on the meats, which can sometimes be a little salty when going Churrascaria-style. Side dishes were constantly brought to our table to sample as well, such as fried polenta, mashed potatoes, and dessert bananas. Oh and I soon as I politely offered the last cheese roll to everyone at our table, which they declined. I went for it. I couldn't let it go to waste, of course. What I didn't realize was the waiter was watching me, because ten seconds later we got a fresh basket of hot rolls. Darn him! I think he saw my face light up though. That's a good waiter.
Still I couldn't pass up dessert. A little apple streudel and cinnamon ice cream never hurts.
Bon appetit!
