DIY Invitations

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! I spent the weekend in the valley with one of my best ladies from high school. It was great to catch up and spend an evening in with girl chat, lots of champagne, and grilled seafood!

But these are what I worked on last weekend with Mom for our upcoming family reunion...

Have a good day!

The Louvre

Part 1

Some people love art, others find it boring. I didn't start appreciating it until only a couple years ago. In museums, I'm one that likes to look at the painting and read about it below. I don't sit and study each painting, but if it's one that speaks to me, I really like to read the time frame, the description, and if it has people in it who they were, and I think of their life back then. The fact that the paintings are so wonderfully preserved and survived from centuries ago, adds to the fascination.

Many of these were from the Holland & French painting collection.

Do you have a favorite kind of art?
Ever been to the Louvre?

The Wheatfield

An Artist After My Own Heart

So There!

&

The "Someday" Cottage...

I soooo have one of these too!
My someday cottage
has a quaint English garden outside,
a sunny porch with sun tea,
rustic sanded wooden floors,
a white couch,
a baker's style kitchen with white marble counter tops,
and a writer's table with a sunny view outside.

Scott Rubey Photography

Travel Thursday
Destinations of Solitude

I've been craving a little R&R this week, and the calming nature photography of my friend, Scott Rubey, from Portland, Oregon takes me to this much needed relaxed state of mind. The ironic thing is I know Scott to be an adventurous mountain climber, and while the sport is for the thrill-seeker, it also provides the solidity and peace between man and nature, which he captures beautifully in his photography. It comes with much personal appreciation in knowing the lengths he takes on his adventures to get very far off the beaten path to capture his images of peace, beauty, and solitude.

To view more great works by Scott Rubey,
please visit his website or follow him on Facebook.
Rumor has it he may be joining us in the Jungfrau Region for our Switzerland PHOTOgraphy Getaway.
To get one psyched for the trip, Scott suggests reading, "The White Spider: The Classic Account of the Ascent of the Eiger" by Heinrich Harrer.

Happy Traveling!!

Cuckoo Clocks & Beer Trucks

A Little Bit of This & That

Last year when I went to Europe, I decided I would splurge on a cuckoo clock. I've been eager to share it on my blog, so when I saw this intricately crafted clock it reminded me that I have yet to share...

Large Elk Clock by Fretworker on Etsy $250.

Here is my beloved Black Forest German cuckoo clock...
(sorry iPhone pic)

Note my little woodcutter's mug of beer!
He lifts it when the clocks strikes every half hour...

Beer Trucks... saw this in my daily Conceirge UNPACKED email.

a crafted Portland Beer Company featuring
fine ales such as Cuddly Panda Porter.

Here is our take on a Beer Truck...
otherwise known as the Oasis Inn
a converted army camoflauged camper
stocked with you know what!

The Oasis Inn resides on my boyfriend's mother's and step-father's property in Ohio.
