MARY MARY.................AN EMERGING CREATIVE LABEL!

Mary Mary who are you?. This, my fashion followers was the first thought I had when I came across this little 'starting up' label. The creations are simple, wearable and yet something was making it very appealing and effectively, 'fashionably accepting' to the creative eye. xo.

Mind you,on first impression, you are pulled into the illusion of assuming that there is nothing really 'stand outish' about this label and its designs.... but that is the hidden talent behind it!, the fact that it appears ordinarily.... extraordinarily!!!!xoxo

The creative hands behind the Mary Mary label is a feminine fashionable talent, by the name of Sandra Mary Robinson. Her self proclamation on the label is based on 'putting together an intuitive and stylish fashion label". Her creations have definately reflected both.

My critic tongue can't help but come to the conclusion that MaryMary will be a promising label serving to the fashion conscious fashionista. I adore her ability to create simplistic cami's and team them with same simplistic shorts. The end result: a very classy version of stylishly showing off a bit of skin!xo.

Although the combination is not a 'difficult' concept to achieve.... however, every now and again the fashion industry requires a simple change in it's creative offerings'....... we can't all possibly be served with bauble, embellishments, shoulder pads, rougings, and over the top unwearables??!!. Mary Mary is a label which serves to maintain that 'bringing' it all back to simple stylish wearable reality. xoxo.

My prediction?..... before fashion lovers are able to gather and sip on cocktails to discuss the emergence of Mary Mary.... this little creative label will be popping up in your fave glossies... very soon!.

My only gripe with Mary Mary... is.............I would have loved to witness more of a larger collection offering..... give me more designs please. Fingers crossed the next collection will do so.

Style rating: Bravo ( Loving it, air kisses all around!, this is an emerging label.. one to definately watch out for!!!!!!!!!!!!)

HIGH HEELS SOCIETY 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sponsored by Princess Chic... (a new shoe concept peeping into the lives of many fashion foot form lovers), High Heels Society 2010 ( its first one for the year) was served up on a platter of delectable fine shoe offerings adorned by fashion savvy, shoe loving fashionista's!xoxo.

Once again staged at the boutique location of the Limes Hotel, High Heels Society 2010 was celebrating, embracing and recognising the one passion in every femme fashions lives..... S.H.O.E.S!!.

To my absolute delight.. I witnessed the true cult following of 'shoe lovers' within Brisbanites all over! xoxo.

As guest judges at High Heels Society 2010, Madam Me ( Madam Alexandra E. / fashion critic), Kellie Alderman ( fashion & beauty editor Sunday Mail) & Damien Anthony Rossi ( entertainment news columnist Sunday Mail), had a champagne clinking, cocktail sipping great time judgeing the sky high pumped heels! xxx.

Dressed to an absolute notion of perfection.... Kellie Alderman had on a 'show stopper' pair of foot forms.. as she self declared.." it's a bit of everything you could possibly imagine put into one shoe!".. and I absolutely second this. xo.

Travel Thursday

Morocco

I've had my eye on this tour with Cosmos, specially for the excursion to venture out on the Sahara dunes at sunset. The tour with Cosmos is about $850 for 10 days, a fairly attractive price for lodging, included tours, and most meals. However, airfare to Casablanca will set you back another $1,100-$1,500 from the US.

This is the map of the tour.

Life In two Suitcases

There comes a time in everyone’s life, when they are given an opportunity to turn everything upside down, and inside out. When life breaks off from its course, and you get a chance to start all over again. Everybody gets that chance. But very few notice it.
My name is Pratishtha Durga. I am a wannabe fashion blogger. I say “Wannabe” because my thoughts are too random, my opinions too scattered, and my style, indecisive. I make a couple of posts every couple of months, and then get too busy, doing nothing in general.
Last year, on 6th October, my life turned upside down, and inside out. My ailing mother fell in the bathroom, and lay there, conscious and helpless, for hours… waiting for my father to come back home and rescue her. She suffered a cranial fracture and a hemorrhage that resulted in a month long painful bedridden stage, finally leading to her demise on 15th November. Her right side was paralyzed after the fall, and a week later, she lost her voice. She must have had so much to say, so many more stories to tell. But she died… unable to speak, unable to share, unable to move. She took her stories, her pain, but left behind a gift that all the treasure in the world could not have bought. She left behind a chance for me to change my life.
For months, perhaps years, I have known that I carry around nothing but excess baggage. I spent all my money on meaningless things, most of which I forgot about as soon as I bought them. As the excess baggage in my life grew, my desire to travel started fading away. It’s common wisdom that if you have to travel far, you must travel light. I had a beautiful wardrobe, I had great books, and I had unusual things to decorate my house. And I had mediocrity. No drive, no passion, no desire to find my own stories and travel destinations. I believed I was happy, and I probably was. But then, more things happened that washed away that illusion. And for a while, life felt fruitless, useless.
I realized that nothing hurts more than untold stories and broken promises you made to yourself. Watching my mother’s lifeless body made me wake up to my life all over again. My mother was a story teller. She could weave stars and constellations out of words and take you places you’d never have dreamed existed. And you could see those stars in her eyes. Her lips would curl up in a faint smile and her eyes would well up with the memories of places she had only visited in her thoughts. I want to go to all those places and more. And I want to discover new stories in new places.
I truly believe that you can start your life over gain, whenever you want. That you can make it what you want it to be. It has taken me a while to start defining what I want from my life. What I truly want is to rid my life of the extra baggage I have accumulated over the years, and only hang on to things that I value the most. I want to write my life’s story all over again. And this time, I want my life to fit into just TWO SUITCASES.
And I want to share my story with all of you. And if it can help you dream, if it can help you change the course of your life, I would be twice as happy. From today, as often as I can, I will be writing posts on what I am doing to make my life different. I will try and give shapes to my dreams, and then I will just go ahead and make them come true. And you all will be my partners on this special journey. I would love to hear from you and get help from you in defining my life’s new course. You and I, we will embark on this journey together. Let’s begin!

Happy 20th Anniversary!

my Mom & Step-Dad...

2 days belated...

 I love you.

Also at the show were the colourful almost folk-like looks of Geo Timmerman , the frosty colourful glow of organza removed from the body is a truly inspired detail running throughout the collection;

Tour De Force presents AW10 Accessories...

We presented the Tour De Force accessories range at Amsterdam's Cutting Edge presentation- ate alot of cheese sandwiches and got very excited to find Lucy+Bart (of body-specific installation/ trend inspiration for the deconstructed sillouette- FAME) munipulating faces for a 'plastic surgery' project.
I was considering getting involved in the ouch being a BIG FAN of their work, but the guy in the chair at the time kept saying it was really hurting. well its all for the sake of art/fashion (both worthy causes after all)...

Noper Updates

Noper is a Romanian illustrator with a thing for animation. He currently lives in Bucharest and works as Art Director with an advertising agency. In his early carreer he often found himslef juggling with various illustration styles, but his more mature work clearly underline his passion to create fabulous and bizarre characters and worlds. His final works are always ellaborated, always yearning to be watched thoroughly in order to discover all the details. He finds his muses in every-day life, be it a funny event or a month-old frustration. That's why the majority of his surreal characters often are a "day to day" satirical quotation. He never plans or sketches a drawing, but prefers to pump every bit of his spontaneous creativity on any type of canvas he has in front: a piece of paper, a tablet, a wall or a napkin. This is how every work gets an organic, unique feeling. He goes by the motto "If I see it, maybe i'll feel it. If I feel it, fuck I'll draw it".

LEONIE SMELT AW10- kalliderscope eyes

Super-sweet Netherlandish designer Leonie Smelt is a recent graduate from the Rotterdam Fashion University has come to Amsterdam from Vienna fashion week with a collection of glassy gold-framed sillouettes which reference kaleidoscopes with complex pleating and patterns. I love heavily optimistic fashion designers  and Leonie glows with good-feeling about the future of the industry PLUS today she has been sporting the most beautiful vintage brass shell bag (possibly 1940's)- her AW10 collection truly sparkles- check it;

BELLE SAUVAGE AW10 PREVIEW (Cutting Edge)

So behind the curtain next to me have been hanging the beautifully printed Metropolis inspired collection of Belle Sauvage... I didnt realise that this label duo was heavily into sci-fi, but now I am a instant fan of their geoetry and clever arragnement of placement print- my favorite piece being the chiffon mini and spikey-hipped dress/top, which feels seriously luxurious (like Giles Deacon standard of high-quality production going on with this) mmmm
Belle Sauvage will be also presenting the full collection at On/Off this season, so  it does seem as though London is becoming the place to watch the progression of the digital print trend- ohhhh the possibilities...

Dream Jobs

I'm continually amazed by how encouraging comments from fellow bloggers can be.
My dad likes to tease me, that it is "stroking each other's ego."
Whatever. Thanks dad.
But seriously, the friendships I've formed from blogging have really motivated me that anything is possible. I know it sounds cheesy, but I think many can relate. Since blogging, I started Etsy, actually stuck with projects I started, despite my lapse during the holidays.
There really is a good reason, which we will leave at that for now.

So, this weekend I took baby steps in getting to that dream job destination.

1. I applied as an Senior Editorial Assistant in San Francisco.
2. I submitted many photos to Frommer's Travel Photo Contest.
Enter HERE. (No, scratch that--you will be my competition. Google the link on your own!)

JK! A big Thank You to all for making "Dream Jobs Monday" a little closer to reality.

Happy Monday!

FINALLY - SUBFUSCO FEMME REVIEW.... FINALLY FINALLY.

Take a seat ladies and gentleman.. and I shall take you on a galactical type journey into the dimension of the creative realm of the much anticipated second half of the Subfusco Fall 2010 collection "Inhabitants", the femme side of things.
Perched high on my fashion throne and penning my critic thoughts...I see a strong image of the wearable of 'tomorrow'. Don't even gasp for the notion of seeing a frill, frou frou or girly wirly type creations in the latest Subfusco fall femme collection!!... definately not!, instead expect to be taken into a new age world.. one which so powerfully creates the 'strong woman in a very captivating style'.

I adore the works of Mr Joshua..(the creative mind and parent of Subfusco), his vision of the femme is clearly one who oozes femininity in a very edgy interpretation.

I love the rouge effect on elongated leg offerings, the galactic style shoulder creations and of course the robe like diversions.

The elements have all been married together to create a very strong femme collection. Extremely wearable in every sense................ Knowing Madam me.. I would be so tempted to team a pair of heeled foot forms with a Subfusco creation.

Like two peas in a pod ( a cutesy analogy).. the femme collection so compliments the Homme.xoxo.

P.S overall... however the Homme collection in Subfusco's fall 2010 is my absolute favourite for any maleista who wants to stay ahead of his fashion peers.

Lovelies don't forget... don't expect to feel & see the entire collection until March/May/ June!!xo. not long now!!! xoxo.

Style rating: Bravo ( loving it, air kisses all around)

AMSTERDAM FASHION WEEK -BREWING- Tour De Force likey

Oops, I have been off the blogosphere for a month due to extreme in-house contruction mission, through which process 3 sewing machines have been broken and one laptop has been taken to the brink of death, but the accessories are- tick - done and propped up in Amsterdam.
I have always had a huge feeling I would love it and YES I DO, give me cosy and cobbled streets with candlelit windowsills and I am content anf availble for mind-opening discussions into the ealy hours.
So along with the British Belle Sauvage & their AW10/11, there are some really hot netherlandish designers here I am going to be blogging about when I get back.... (as in nice not goodlooking... well)
