Anim’est 2008 is an International Animated Film Festival competition open to short and feature film, video clip and advertising, student film & Romanian shorts and it comprises five official categories and a non-competitive one. During the festival, there will also be seminars, workshops, forums and retrospectives.

The special guest of the Festival is the twice nominated for an Oscar independent animator Bill Plympton who will present to the Romanian audience the premiere of his latest feature film - Idiots and Angles. Born in 1946 in Portland, Plympton became one of the best known names in the history of animation thanks to his first nomination for an Oscar (for best animated short, in 1988) for his famous short Your Face (1987). This was the beginning of a successful career and the admitance ticket to the top league of world animators where he distinguished himself through his distinct style.

Yoann Lemoine

Yoann Lemoine - mainly working as a film director in media such as video, 8 to 35mm film, 2D and 3D animation, Stop Motion, photography, illustration, painting, screen printing, sculpture, collage, knitting, holograms, and constantly looking for avenues of expression that combine those different mediums. Latest project: Yelle's video for 'Ce jeu'.

Handmade

'Handmade' ia a surrealistic short film that makes use of metaphors and unusual symbol to explain what one feels when is in love. Directed by Denis Kamioka aka Cisma, a brazilian animation director based in Barcelona and São Paulo.

Explosive stuntman-editor-producer-writer-actor- director Nash Edgerton delivers his latest effort, "Spider", a 9-minute action-thriller that gives an all-new meaning to old Peugeots, stunning blondes and love-jokes. The movie, written by Nash and David Michod and soundtracked for the occasion by Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee, was shot on location in Sydney and features in the cast Nash himself (as Jack) and rising star of the Australian film scene Mirrah Foulkes (as Jill). It's no surprise that it's been awarded with the World Movies Channel Audience Award at the Sydney Film Festival 2007. Just remember: It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Psst! Pass it on... is a series of short animated films created in collaboration by a select group of motion graphics artists from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Berlin. Inspired by the Surrealist game of Exquisite Corpse and the children's game of Telephone, the minute-long films consist of three sections by three different design teams. The artists worked sequentially, linking up their animations to create a single piece over the course of about 9 weeks. The films feature a variety of styles and methods of production including live-action, stop-motion, 3d & 2d animation.
