Easter Eggs Art - Deliciously Wicked!

On Easter morning, so many children wake up, eager to discover the Easter Eggs left behind by the Easter bunny. Early Christians adopted the egg, a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in celebrations of spring, as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus.
Traditionally, dyed or painted chicken eggs were used for Easter. But over the years, chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery, have become popular Easter treats. But the most unique trend to have taken prominence over the past few years is the Easter Art Eggs. From bizarre to beautiful, these eggs redefine the tradition of the Easter eggs. And add a whole new dose of Fun!

Easter Coconut Cake

We Take The Cake bakery was featured on a CNBC special
about The Oprah Effect awhile back.
When Oprah originally featured this company on her show,
the next day the small mail-order operation was a booming success!
(Oprah's favorite - the Key Lime Bundt Cake.)

Luckily this bakery is less than a mile from me,
and I'm thinking about trying one for Easter!
Yum!

Otherwise this recipe by Paula Dean
looks just as fantastic!

Way Back When

Image via Flickr.

Growing up, I had a view like this from my bedroom.
Whenever I woke up I looked out at my very own wisteria tree.
It was my mom's pride and joy.
She posed me in front of it every year when it would bloom to take my portrait.
I have been yearning for my own garden the past few weeks more than anything in the world, and to be perfectly honest, today was one of those days when there is nothing more I want than to curl up in that old bedroom and gaze out the window at that wisteria tree in full bloom.

Eat, Pray, Love

by Elizabeth Gilbert

A months ago I finally picked up Eat, Pray, Love to read the back of the book jacket. It has been all over the book stands for some time now. I was very intrigued and spent a good five mintues debating whether or not to purchase it. I set it back down because I had a few other books to get to first, but took a mental note, that I should indeed consider it again shortly.

When I learned a movie based upon the book and starring Julia Roberts will be released in August, I immediately pushed this up my priority list to a must read. (Too see the trailer and read more "delicious details" about the movie visit Pop Eater.)

The memoir is written by Elizabeth Gilbert, who after a bad divorce decided to travel abroad for a year. First to Italy, to eat and enjoy life, then India on a quest for spirtuality, and lastly to Bali in search of balancing both spirtuality and love.

Gilbert grew up in Connecticut on a small family Christmas tree farm and knew she wanted to be a writer as early as she could remember. She wrote an article for GQ years ago about her bartending days in Manhattan, which ended up being the basis for the movie, Coyote Ugly. She has written five books, but her memoir Eat, Pray, Love has earned her the most popularity with over 7 million copies sold,  and translated in 30 languages.

Anaikka - Fashion Jewellery Goes Forward

Combining architectural shapes with vintage aesthetics in bold “statement jewellery” is Anaikka. Their stall at the Lakme Fashion Week took my breath away. Metallic grey and gold neck pieces, shoulder pieces and shrugs stood tall, beckoning the independent new age woman, who isn’t afraid to flaunt her strength and her grit. A unique blend of the edgy and the luxurious, these pieces are as modern as jewellery can be, while at some point finding their origin in tradition. The stall was a delight, giving form to that clichéd but not often followed term, Fashion Forward.

Ego Anton, the Food Critic from Disney's Ratatouille.

I am extremely excited to announce that I will be the new Fort Lauderdale Ethnic Foods Restaurant Reviewer for Examiner.com. I have been wanting to write about food and review restaurants ever since I obtained my degree in magazine journalism. I can now dig out my dusty book Will Write for Food by Dianne Jacob, which I bought upon graduation.

Will Write for Food: The Complete Guide to Writing Cookbooks, Restaurant Reviews, Articles, Memoir, Fiction and More

I 've always been known as a dreamer, but with patience and preserverance, things sometimes do work out.

Here is another example... in kindergarten when told to draw what I wanted to be when I grew up... I drew a Disneyland worker. Sure enough when I was in college, I applied to work for the summer at Disney World in their college program, and even though I humbly served Pineapple Dole Whip, or eggrolls in Adventureland (depending on the day), I fulfilled my dream. It wasn't until my mom pulled out that old drawing that I remembered what I once wanted. While my experience at Disney was nowhere near what a child would dream, with the minimal pay and laborous schedule, it's the fact that I had achieved one of my dreams, learned a tremendous lesson about finances, and it led to me to where I am today... currently living in South Florida.

Modern Replica.
Don't Laugh.
I'm not sure if that's Mickey Mouse, or the Easter Bunny.
I think I did a better job drawing when I was 5.

So brace yourselves,
I will be sharing my future reviews with you.
Thanks to Mel @ Reverie-Daydream,
I found out about Examiner.com because of you.

MERCEDES BENZ FASHION FESTIVAL: FINALLY XOXO.

The best news waffled its way into my ear yesterday.. and of course publicly declared today. The best news to even take me away from my extreme duties of commentary
The best news that could even take me away from lacquering my nails with smokey grey Yves Saint Laurent....xo
The best news that could even stop me from sipping my tea
The best news that momentarily stopped me from touching up my lippy!!!!!

And the best news is of course the announcement that Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival ( Brisbane ) has found a new home!... and I am so proud to hear that the MR BENNETT team will be feeding fashion to the fashionably hungry.. by way of a Marquee.. in Southbank. ( I can just so see the vision:.. big and grand marquee, set up in a very plush New York with an Aussie flavour environment...runway show!)

My gosh, finally it has happened! The Brisbane offering of Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival is finally measuring up to its sister cities of Sydney and Melbourne!!xo. ( even though we will have to still wait to witness the fashion offerings and etc...).

Last year.. I recalled a penned review from Madam me.. myself, Alexandra E... a review which spoke of the brutally honest truth on Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival....... this year.. I hope to do the opposite... for some inkling of a feeling,, I think I will achieve just that! My fashion conscious tells me that this year.. Mr Bennett and his team are out to do some serious fashion rubbing!!, out to impress and make Brisbane shine within the fashion stakes for that momentary week!xoxo.

So proud am I .. as a fashion commentator, identity, critic, stylist, brain... whatever you may know me or refer to me as......that this is finally happening..a bigger and better showcasing of Brisbane's finest fashion event.

Now all they need to do is set it up like a very exclusive showing where front second and third row seats are reserved for VIP's within the industry.. I'm talking about the editors of Glossies, the voices behind the fashion bloggers..., the iconic fashion identities of celebrities and muses. Hang name plaques over the seating and take a snap shot of it.. just to tease the curiosity of fashionista's who just might be curious enough to want to attend the event purely for a glimpse of the VIP's...???.

Create a real New York'ish flavour.... This will only be achieved if you see a fashion blogger seated front row at an A-list designer showing in Brisban'es Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival.. blogging madly away.. beaming the information world wide to fashion lovers INSTANTLY!! If the team at MR Bennett's head quarters are clever and on to it... this is the new marketing flavour tactic to push the sales.... hmmmm I think I am a very clever fashion brain...xoxo.

Terribly excited with this years event... I predict it to be the best one yet for the Bennett team!!!xoxo. I'm shouting this to my overseas fashion lovers..... keep an eye on this little independent one.

www.mbff.com.au And it's happening in a different date slot.. early August... and it's appearing ahead of Sydney!!! can you believe it??? ahead of Sydney.. literally opening it.. for Australia!!!!! xoxoxo.
